AUTUMN II

I called up a friend this afternoon and told her that it was so beautiful out that, whatever we were doing, we needed to put it aside and go to the beach.

Not that I was doing so much.

Plus, I had an important errand to run at the beach.  Someone had asked me to collect some flat Lake Erie stones for her.  I mean, really, what choice did I have?  Such pressure.

Plus, my friend really needed a break after 10 days of focus on her father-in-law's death and funeral and various extended family matters. The only real option was a trip to a  beach.  I am SUCH an altruistic person.

When I dropped my friend off this evening, I mentioned that, while theoretically I was cleaning the kitchen, I hadn't bothered to wipe off the counters yet.

"I'm sure you can think of another field trip for this evening," she said helpfully.

Isn't there always something more interesting to do than clean the kitchen?  Beautiful photo..   Stacy

A picture that fills me with longing....  what I wouldn't give to be able to walk along the edge of the surf and feel the water lap at my ankles.  Pennie

I envy you, and all those, who have such beautiful scenery at their doorsteps.  The Mississippi River doesn't quite cut it as a beach!  Beautiful picture; great excuse for not cleaning the kitchen, the bathrooms, the leaves, the living room, the laundry...

What a great picture!    I need to remember to get up to my big lake one of these days.   I always feel better when I do.    Just looking at this picture made me feel more relaxed.

Everybody seems to be thinking of getting off-track today.  Why not stray from the boring old path of normal life once in awile?  Lisa  :-]

Pretty picture.  I too have now grasped the dream of living within ten minutes of the water again an I am constantly surprised at how little chance I have, or make, to go walk the beautiful water's edge.

"I'm sure you can think of another field trip for this evening," she said helpfully."  What a wonderful friend to have.  Everyone needs someone to play hookie with, otherwise it would not be as much fun!

Wow, what a beautiful day to go to the beach.  My husband saw the photograph over my shoulder and he said "Is that I lighthouse."  I like sharing things with him.  He loves the beauty of nature as much as I do.  I read Judithheartstones journal first and then linked to yours. Flat skipping rocks.  Takes me back to so many memories, not at Lake Erie but at Lake Superior up in the UP of Michigan.  Oldest son went to college up there and we went to Copper Harbor with him.  That was my first time on a beach that didn't have sand, no it had stones, rolled and tumbled and nice flat skipping stones.  Watched the guys, father and sons, skip those stones and of course I did too.  Thanks for the memories to both of you.
