From the redwood forest. . . to the Gulfstream waters. . . ~

Yep -- outdoor Arlo Guthrie concert tonight.

Not just Arlo, but members of younger Guthrie, Seeger and Unger generations.

I still think that the best concert I EVER went to was Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger (who is 85 or 86 now and was described by the New York Times ten years ago as "a banjo player, folk singer and so far left politically he has probably never been called a liberal) outdoors at Chautauqua -- we've figured out that it was 16 years ago.

But tonight was pretty damn good.

"If you want to stop a war, you gotta learn to sing REAL LOUD."

                                                                          ~ Arlo Guthrie

. . . this land was made for you and me!

                                                                          ~ Woody Guthrie (1912-1967)

Ahhh, nostalgia. Arlo was one our faves way back when (so were Pete & Woody, of course.) Thanx for the memories.

Thank you for your remarks in my journal. You're absolutely right. This is addictive. We share a lot of common interests. I love history, although I am more focussed on American history or even the history about me in the Midwest.

-- I would be so proud if somebody wrote this about me years from now.    What fun!   We recently picked up a Folkways CD a few years ago which was modern artist covering Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly tunes which include U2, Arlo Guthrie, Sweet Honey in the Rock, and other modern artist.     The show sounds wonderful!
