Gannets are enormous and sleek creamy-white seabirds, with black wingtips, yellow heads and necks, and startlingly outlined eyes. They nest on the rocky cliffs of the European and North American coasts of the North Atlantic and, once grown, spend their days sailing across the ocean. The acrobatics by which they make their living ~ steep climbs into the air and speedy plunges straight into the sea ~ are rivaled only by those of pelicans.
What better metaphor for a sweeping search of one's life choices and opportunities than a gannet extended above the waves, a regal and yet restless surveyor of the vast ocean surface? The gannet reminds us that life is an adventure in both beauty and profound unease, and that the sea itself is limitless in its textures and possibilities.
I wonder if my journal has run its course? I did walk 3 miles today. Those shadows in the photograph happened only because there was SUN.

Beautiful photo. Your journal has definitely not run it's course. Maybe you could expound on one of your items from the list the other day. Tell us how you met your DH in more detail or how you felt when you found out you were pregnant with twins.
I think it's natural for our journals to ebb and flow depending on what's going on in our lives. I also keep a private journal, for me only, and sometimes I write there instead of for public consumption...it kind of clears the cobwebs out for me to write without worrying about who's reading it or what anyone else thinks. I for one hope you keep your journal going, at whatever level you feel comfortable with, because I really enjoy your perspective.
The photograph is beautiful. It has a conversation all its own. Breaks are a requirement in life. Take care of yourself and know that I enjoy your reading your journal. Best, Judith http://journals.aol.com/jtuwliens/MirrorMirrorontheWall
Well, I see you've written more since you wrote this, but don't put pressure on yourself to write if you have nothing to write about...it will come again...I haven't had anything to write about lately either...yet, not ready to get rid of the journal yet either...am in flux...keep walking...now that the weather is nicer, we should have lots of walking days ahead :-)

Your previous entry spoke volumes - maybe you need a rest!
And your picture and brief words today are a delight. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words, Robin...

Sometimes there's something to be said for silence.
Oh, God, not you too! You just told me that you weren't planning on going anywhere... Lisa :-]
You say that today...but tomorrow!

You have plenty more to say, Robin, and to say beautifully. Just wait for it to happen. Promise me you won't start with the memes and question sets.
There are plateaus in everything....just don't disappear!!

Life keeps happening. I suspect you have a lot more to say. Breaks are refreshing and necessary - just don't be gone too long.
