Dogs on the Move (Or Not)

Yesterday the Animal Protective League held its annual fundraiser Dog Walk-A-Thon.  While the young lady worked the Coke stand, I took some more pictures.

I forget the name of this breed ~ he's a Hungarian something-or-other.  We christened him Dreadlocks Dog.

This fellow settled right into the dog drinking pool and refused to come out.  Several feet away, another dog was doing the same thing.

The dogs took their owners on a  2-mile walk along the river, where thrush and oriole calls livened the morning further.

Love the big old Rottie (or whatever he is) in the drinking pool.  Neat walking path.  Looks very much like the bike path along the Willamette in Eugene.  Lisa  :-]  http://journals.aol.com/mlraminiak/ComingtotermswithMiddleAge/

I love that dreadlock dog, but I wouldn't want to have to be the one to groom him.

That's hilarious of the dog in the drinking pool!  We are trying to get Gabby to jump in our pool, but she won't.  She paces the whole time we are in there and often cries.  I don't know what her problem is.  I bet that dog would have a great time, lol.

The dreadlock dog is a Puli.  I used to breed and show dogs so I know the different breeds.  The Puli is a herding breed.

Love those Puli's!  Have you ever seen a Komondor?  They are like that but gray, I believe - look just like a floor mop!

Believe it or not, puli's are herding dogs.  I find it hard to believe they can see anything, let alone hear it!

Thanks for the lovely pics.  I have a herding dog - the lovely Zelda, a Belgian Sheepdog.  Well, she thinks she's lovely.  Last year we said goodbye to her friend, Zeus, a Belgian Tervuren, another herding dog.  I miss him.
