Across the Ocean

I got an email from my boys today; they are together and headed for Prague tomorrow, so it looks like that's where they might be when they turn 20 on Wednesday.  I've never been to Prague but it looks just amazing:

And, in the midst of the architectural distinctiveness of the past are some contemporary gems, including a Frank Gehry building!

I think they'll have a great time just wandering around.

That second picture is amazing!  My first reaction was, "It's actually supposed to look like that?"  It seems designed to warn passersby that even a building is not a stable, predictable, permanent thing. Extraordinary! - Karen

Prague is the best city for the young!!!  My dh and I went for our 20th anniversary and absolutely loved it. People were friendly, everything was easy to navigate and the architecture was phenomenal.  If you were there I'd tell you to go to the Loretto!!!!

Prague is like a fairy tale.  People ought to get their behinds there now, before the whole world discovers that is will be-- within the next decade, I predict-- classier than going to Paris.  Architecture, love of music and art, culinary delight, history, beauty-- and film crews galore who HAVE already figured out its majesty.  No one could not love it-- and it still is fairly inexpensive.  It won't be for long.  Hie hence.

What a fantastic place to spend ones 20th birthday.I hope your boys spend every birthday they have, together in a special place. They should have a big toast to their very cool Mom. I love the pictures. The "inside-out windows" in the second building are fascinating. I would have a broken neck if I ever got to tour some of those places.
